The day was clear and the lake was especially shimmery today. The sun was beaming down onto the water causing it to reflect and glisten in just the right kind of way. The type of way that made you feel surreal, like you, were in some kind of movie or painting. It was the perfect setup for a romantic movie plot, with the star-crossed lovers meeting here for the first time, and then ending the movie in the same spot. That was very much not the case, however, and Toy was very much alone. At least, he thought he was.
Adjusting the black beanie that sat upon his snowy white hair, he stared out into the water for a moment. Inhaling deeply, the crisp cool air, although fresh, burned a bit as it filled his lungs. He loved days like this. Sure, he was all for chaos and the unexpected, but it was nice to be calm and recharge himself too. Besides, who said something exciting still couldn't happen. A meteor could come hurdling to this very spot, or he could be abducted by aliens, or a giant sea monster could reveal itself and he would have to do battle with it. It was a lake, after all, sea monsters seemed to like lakes.
As he mused over the various scenarios of what he would do in such craziness, he bent down and picked up a rock. Holding the smooth piece of stone in his hand for a moment he began to whistle quietly, now looking to the stone in his hand before looking back at the water. Turning his body to the side, he pulled his arm back at just the right angle. He eyed the water imagining what he wanted the rock to do before flinging it in one fluid motion.
Bounce, bounce, bounce, plop!
Toy pumped his fist as the rock skipped across the water three times before finally falling in. He stopped whistling, the urge for some type of music was causing him the desire to sing. He couldn't sing, he shouldn't sing, but he was alone; he was sure. Bending down to pick up another rock, he quickly looked about him just to extra double check. Nothing moved around him, nothing made a noise except soft gentle water lapping and the rustle of the trees blowing gently. He was completely alone.
Pulling his arm back once again and releasing the rock he held in his hand, this one skipped four times before kerplunking into the water. Toy didn't look for another rock now, though. He stood up tall and faced the water, stretching his arms above his head. Taking in another breath, and releasing it slowly he let his hands drop back to his sides tapping lightly on his right leg.
“♫ Beauty queen of only eighteen she, had some trouble with herself. He was always there to help her, she, always belonged to someone else. ♫” A little paranoid, Toy looked around himself again just to be sure one more time that he was still alone. Once positive, he continued to sing, “♫ I drove for miles and miles and wound up at your door. I've had you so many times, but somehow I want more... ♫” Now feeling the song more and getting lost in the music, Toy closed his eyes.
“♫ I don't mind spendin' everyday, out on your corner in the pouring rain. Look for the girl with the broken smile. Ask her if she wants to stay awhile... And she will be loved, and she will be loved..... Tap on my window knock on my door, I, wanna make you feel beautiful. I know I tend to get so insecure, it don't matter, anymore. It's not always rainbows and butterflies, it's compromise that moves us along, yeah.... My heart Is full and my doors always open, you can come anytime you want, yeah. I don't mind spendin' everyday, out on your corner in the pouring rain. Look for the girl with the broken smile, ask her if she wants to stay awhile and she will, be loved. And she will, be loved... ♫” Now he was in the music like he usually was. It was easy for him to lose himself in melodies and beats and strung together lyrics. He was in the oblivious state, unaware of anyone or anything else around him.
