Round Two [SKAILOR]

[Skailor Jäger]

When Kris mentioned that bad habits die hard, Skailor nodded. He wasn't really sure putting your phone in your pocket was considered a bad habit, after all most people kept their phones in their pocket. That was where he kept his own, it's just in this instance he knew he would be going swimming so he didn't want to bring it along. Besides that it meant he was out of range from his sister, and it wasn't like it was hard for him to go back and retrieve his phone.

He gave a grin when she noticed her looking at his glasses, "Worried I can't see?"He questioned while suddenly squinting as if he were trying to get his eyes to focus, "I can't. You look like a blob right now. I'm not even sure what you really look like." His face was serious for all of a second before laughing and shaking his head. He waved his hand as if he were waving away his joking words, "Just kidding. They're just for decoration." Grabbing them, he put them on for a moment, "To make me look smarter, you know?" Looking at the spots that were now very visible to him, he scrunched up his face a little bit. "Well... Then they aren't all water spotted." Removing them once more he placed them back on the side.

When she started talking about the look she gave him, which also happens to be the look Raeyhn gives him from time to time, he noded. "Well, Raeyhn isn't normal. Don't tell her I said that, though." Giving a sigh he added on, "It's her... 'I'm disappointed and upset with you right now, and you are about to do what I say before I shank you with a shiv while smiling sweetly.' look." Phew that was a mouth full. Most people often didn't believe him about Raeyhn's personality, since to other people she was much different than she was with him. Made sense though since after all they were siblings, and grew up with a close relationship.

Kris had mentioned that when she gave him the look she was both upset and sad. She didn't look like she really wanted to talk about it though, and to be honest neither did Skailor. It was kind of an awkward situation, and it was only made more awkward that day by him. So he let the subject change.

At the mention of not normally swimming in her regular clothes, Skailor laughed. "What!? You mean that's not your swim suit?" He questioned with faux shock on his face. He smirked when she mentioned being able to dive, but never as high as him, and stood proudly with his hands on his hips. "I know. I'm the greatest at high diving." Laughing and relaxing his stance back to normal he smiled when she mentioned it being the most fun she's had in awhile. Whenever someone said something like that it was sad and happy all at once. He knew that meant something less than fun was going on in her life, but it also meant he made her feel better about it today.

"Well, you wanna high dive with me at the beach? You know, how I mentioned earlier... I wanna try it from higher." He pointed toward the ceiling when he said that, offering for her to come along, and even dive with him.

Kristina found herself believing him at first before he laughed clearly joking, she gave a friendly smile glad he could see but also that joke being a good one. He did had her believing him though, it wasn't often that one could fool her. "Oh I see..." She grinned, thinking it was cool that he was doing that to try and look smarter. "If you ever need help with your homework though, let me know." She answered him back. She was in the middle of transferring schools. Yes this girl was special.... she ditched class and worse of all she would be known as the scholar who ditches. She couldn't help but wonder if he would get her hint of her being smarter than she looks even though she was a junior.

Skailar started talking about his sister and she just smiled at him. That is what I'd say about my brothers and they would about me.... talk about sibling love right there.... She laughed as he finished explaining what her look meant when she gave it. Now she wasn't surprised that he knew that look seeing as he got it all the time. Though she didn't hint that she knew the feeling all to well, unless Skailor had bothered looking at the names on the gravestone he wouldn't have likely taken the hint of it being her brothers of all people, that she was visiting.

She laughed when he asked if that wasn't her normal swimsuit. "Nope, I normally have more skin showing." She joked, bringing it up again. When he asked if she wanted to go with him she just smiled. "I'd love to." She paused before adding, "Though when you go, I want to get my swimsuit.... it would be just more fun." Another pause before asking, "When did you want to go?" She was done practicing her water element for now.

Skailor smirked as Kris seemed to have believed him about his glasses. People often assumed they were real, after all most people didn't wear glasses that weren't. Recently, though, it had become a fashion trend to wear cosmetic only glasses, and Skai totally fell into the trend. Really though, he thought that he looked smarter with them on, so he liked them. It seemed with Kristina's offer though, she was genuinely smart, not faux smart. Not to say that he thought he was stupid, he didn't even think she was stupid. Most people just always assumed he was stupid due to his lack of motivation when he was in school, and even now with his chaser training, or even finding a better job. He wanted to. It just was such a chore to actually put effort into it. "Good to know, but I only really have homework for chaser stuff. Which is mainly my powers and stuff." Suddenly he began to wonder how old Kris thought he was, and then he was wondering how old she was.

Though she smiled she grew quiet when he mentioned his sister. He wondered if maybe he mentioned her too much. It was hard not to, she was kind of the only person he ever really talked to. Generally, he met people at work but didn't become super close to anyone and aside of that he was either practicing his skills or being nagged. Any other free time was spent more often than not being bored and looking for something to do. He did decide her would try his best not to mention his sister's name at least for awhile.

Thankfully the topic of going to the beach with him to try some extreme high diving was on the table and the topic at hand. Interestingly enough Kris seemed to be game for it as well, under the stipulation that she would be able to grab her swimsuit first. With a nod of his head he picked up his stuff and held out his hand to her in a shall we dance type of motion. "I was planning on swimming today, so we may as well go right now. If you have time." Skailor suggested. It made sense to simply go when he already had the time and the outfit for it. "I can pop you back to change. I need to grab a new towel anyway if we're gonna go." He added on to the offer, deciding he'd like a dry towel for the beach, and probably a new shirt to change into. Not to mention for this he'd probably wanna grab his phone, just in case.

Kristina just smiled over at him, "Oh I thought they gave you both...." She then realized, maybe he didn't have it because he wasn't eighteen, maybe he had finished school already. It was easy for her to change the subject over risk her brothers being mentioned, she didn't mind him talking about his sister, just the fear of him asking who she had been mourning for the other day since she hadn't bothered to tell them. She took his hand as he helped her up before walking over to grab her phone and wallet, she placed the phone in the front of her right pocket and then her wallet in her right back pocket before taking his hand again.

"I have time." She finished before adding, "I think it might be best if I walk.... you don't know where I live.... it might take longer if you teleport me there...." She stated, "Though walking shouldn't be to bad." She was tempted to drag him towards Dream's house but he mentioned a new towel and shirt. "I'll meet you outside the Chaser academy then." She let go of his hand and rushed out of the pool area, before leaving the academy a few minutes later. It took her a little while to get home, change into her swim suit before putting on a new long sleeve shirt with jeans. On her way back towards the academy, she stopped by the bank for a new card, then stopped by the cellular store for a new phone.

She met Skailor back in front of the academy, "Sorry it took so long, I got a new card and a new phone.... so let me take those out of my pocket before we go okay?" She teased, taking his hand again in hers she waited for him to teleport them to the beach. She then kicked off her shoes and socks, before taking off her shirts and jeans before setting her cell phone and wallet on the pile. She had brought a towel with her this time around too, remembering it as one of the last things needed before rushing out the door. She slowly walked towards Skailor, now seen in a black one piece swimsuit. "I'm ready when you are."

Kris mentioned thinking that he would have both school work and Chaser assignments and Skailor just smiled. "Well, I'm sure under normal circumstance they would... I think my sister has both, at least for the rest of this year." He mentioned, thinking about it. He couldn't remember her birthday though, maybe she had already graduated? Who knew. He didn't keep up with that kind of thing, which he probably should have considering they were close. But school wasn't something she ever needed help with, so he just never really kept up with what she was doing in school. As for himself though, it had been awhile since he had been in a high school type of setting. He took some college courses, but he had finished that too. He just was job hunting for now... Being a chaser seemed to be a good way to make some quick money, even if it was sort of hard work.

Not commenting on the subject much more, he grinned as she mentioned having time right now. That was good, then they could just go now. He had nothing better to do with his day, and it would have gotten way more boring if she had said that she was too busy to accompany him right now. She mentioned meeting him instead of having him take her, which caught him off guard a little. He was beginning to be convinced that reading minds was part of her power. He hadn't mentioned really how his power worked, he never really did to people. But he shrugged it off and agreed, "Alright, see you there." And in an instant he was gone and back to his apartment.

Grabbing a fresh towel, a fresh shirt, his wallet and phone this time since they were going farther, he teleported back to their meeting spot. As he waited he pulled out his phone to text his sister. When they were at the beach he probably would be too busy to actually answer or check his phone, so he wanted to let her know that he would be busy. He didn't want her to try to call, and he didn't answer for awhile. Then she would hunt him down and give him the 'I thought you were dead in a ditch' speech.

Shaking his head, Skailor put his phone into the pocket on his surf shorts, just as Kris was walking up to him, apologizing for taking so long. He laughed as she mentioned getting new stuff, so he'd have to let her take those out of her pocket before putting her in the water. As she took his hand again, he got them to the beach in the blink of an eye. It was sort of chilly, it was still the end of winter after all, but that was ok. It was better than being too hot. He took off his new dry shirt, and put it in a pile with his phone, wallet and towel, which was also new. Looking at Kristina, he fake gasped and remarked, "Oh no! You forgot your swimsuit!" In regards to their earlier joke of her liking to swim in her regular clothes.

With a grin, he took old of her, and looked down at her, "Ready?" He mentioned, before they poofed and suddenly were in the middle of the air. They were a good few feet higher than the highboard had been, and gravity took hold of them as they plummeted into the water below. The fall seemed a little longer this time, since they were higher up than before. Resurfacing from the water, Skai looked impressed, "That. Was. Awesome!" He excitedly claimed.

Kristina laughed when he claimed that she had forgotten her swimsuit, she noticed the grin when he looked down before she was in his grip again. He asked if she was ready and for a second she thought to change her mind, it was fun but scary for her. Instead of saying anything he poofed and they were in the middle of the air, so much higher than before. It took a lot of effort to laugh instead of scream on the way down. Which hopefully gave Skailor some reason to make noise too. It seemed like forever when they hit the water, if Skailor had been paying attention he would have noticed not once had she looked down. The water hit her skin and it was freezing, but she liked it all the same. She stayed under water until Sakilor had brought them back up.

She saw his face as she took in air once more. He spoke and she started laughing, "That was awesome. Scary but awesome...." She admitted before shoving some water at him. She didn't cause the water to move since she was so close to him. It was fun being out here in the beach, the smile never left her face. "So before today, how high have you ever been before landing in water?" It was to the pool or beach question. She didn't see any reason at all why one should limit it, but his answer couldn't talk about today because she meant before that. She had been laughing so hard that she started to cry. After a few minutes she forced herself to stop to breath in some air.

She hadn't laughed that hard since her brothers... her brothers... it took her a few minutes to collect her thoughts, the memories were becoming overwhelming for her. Another breath before forcing a smile on her face. I'll be okay.... I just need a moment... She thought to herself, doing just that. Skailor had a sister, she couldn't help but wonder where she was right now. "So to the topic from before, your sister is a senior?" It was becoming so much easier for her to collect her thoughts, Skailor looked like he was only eighteen or so. It also sounded like his sister was younger than him since he wasn't taking any normal classes just the Chaser ones.

"So are you older or younger than her?" She asked, not that it mattered, a friend was a friend. She didn't see the harm in telling him, "I'm a junior this year." She smiled before adding, "But I'm currently taking senior classes."

Skailor laughed when Kris mentioned being scared but having fun at the same time. "Scared? You afraid of heights?" He asked, laughing a bit more. He paused when she asked how high he's done this before and he gave a shrug of his shoulders. "I haven't really tried before. I never thought to teleport upward instead of sideward." He did wonder how high he could go though, since he could technically see for miles and miles. He wondered if there was a limit. Like, obviously he probably couldn't go beyond the clouds since he couldn't really see past them.  "We'll find out today how high I can go." He added on with a grin.

He was glad Kristina was laughing. She hadn't seemed so light and carefree earlier, so seeing her laugh so hard that she was crying was nice. He was glad he could cheer her up. Her mood seemed to change a little though, just for a moment. He wondered what could have caused the sudden change. Maybe he had said something he wasn't supposed to, or maybe she had just begun thinking about something. Either way it seemed that she was trying to hide it behind a smile, so he wouldn't pry too much about it.

She finally seemed ok enough to start up a conversation again. This time asking about his sister. "Yeah I think she is." He replied, using the word think specifically. To be honest, he really didn't know. He hadn't been home in awhile, and she had only just come here to go to the chaser school. When Kris asked if he was older or younger and then added that she was a junior taking senior classes he grinned and patted the top of her head.  "Awww... aren't you cute?" He teased with a snicker.  "I'm Raeyhn's older brother. She's 18. I'm 23." He mentioned, wondering if Kris would see his sister around school since the girl took senior classes.

Suddenly, though, Skailor became very aware of their ages. He hoped she didn't think he was some weird loser for hanging out with her. She was fun and it was cool to have a friend, since he didn't have many just working all the time. It wasn't like he couldn't make friends with people his own age, he just preferred to make friends with people who wanted to be friends with him too.

Kristina, "I think everybody has that fear on the way down, what are you talking about." She teased, "Heights don't bother me, but you can't say you didn't feel the rush on the way down." She added before asking another question. He then claimed he hadn't, before stating today they will find out how high he can go. With so much laughing, it was hard trying to get back onto the subject at hand, seeing as he was trying to. She nods her head when he talked about his sister. Though he called her cute and she found herself blushing. He said Raeyhn was 18, so senior was likely, he was 23 though. She thought he looked 18. "So I'm currently at two schools at the moment, I'm finishing my week at the one school, then moving to the Chaser one. A friend is helping me move so that I can start the following Monday." She explained, not aware that she had answered his question.

Kristina had noticed the age difference but didn't seem to mind it in the slightest. He wasn't much older than her, little did she know her friend, looked 18 but was really 25. "So what brought you to the Chaser school?" She was changing the subject. She was at the school because her brothers were dead and she wasn't normal. Plus it meant she could be around Fritz more. "I'm switching schools because, well, I want to get control over this water element and I think they might be a good fit for me." And because my brothers are gone and would have wanted to join, and because Dream is gone and I might stand a chance in finding him if the Chasers figured out where he went. She figured since Raeyhn was a senior they were in the same boat, but Skailor was around the age of a college student, she couldn't help but wonder if he was there to get control over his powers too.

As she talked about the rush from falling, Skailor supposed that she was right. He didn't feel fear though, he felt a rush. An adrenaline rush to be specific. He liked the feeling he got free falling back to earth, it was exciting, it was fun. He supposed everyone was different though, and not everyone liked heights. She seemed ok with trying to go higher and higher with him though, at least until they grew bored. Or he grew tired... Or it grew dark. Whichever came first.

Kristina started to explain that she was in two school currently, but was in the process of switching. That meant she was likely to run into his sister at least when she finished changing schools. They could possibly run into each other too in the halls or something, but Skai didn't really take actual classes so he didn't particularly hang around the hallways or anything. He didn't want people to think he was some weird older dude who had nothing better to do.

Then she asked why he had decided to come to the chaser school. He gave a shrug of his shoulders and said shortly, "I guess to expand the use of my powers." Really that was probably it. He had enough control over his power to find it useful, but there were still limitations. He was hoping that the academy could help him over come that. Not to mention he also wanted to learn some fighting moves. Currently he was only really good for retreating or getting other people out of dangerous situations. He didn't want to just be secondary anymore. He wanted to be an independent chaser as well. Not just someone who was like a sidekick. But he wouldn't tell her that.

Kristina found herself smiling at Skailor, he seemed to know what she was talking about even though he didn't feel the fear though she didn't know that. It sounded like fun how they would be possibly going higher, having all day because it wasn't even lunch yet. She explained how she was in two schools and he seemed to understand that but hadn't made a comment on the subject. She asked him what his reason was for becoming a Chaser and he told her, though she didn't know there was more to that answer. She nodded her head to him in agreement, knowing the feeling all to well. She could see herself still being here until she mastered her powers. Even when she finished school just because it would benefit her greatly. Maybe she would be able to become a teacher assistant on the side just to help other students out if she needed help with their studies.

"Ready for another go?" She asked, clearly she was, it was fun falling from so high even though it was scary at the same time, but she trusted him. She knew that they were safe, the ocean was deep enough after all. She knew for a face if things were to happen she was prepared to go help him, hopefully he had the same thoughts crossing his mind just in case. She waited for him to answer before giving him a friendly smile. Looking forward to the thrill of falling from the sky once more.

Skailor hadn't really thought about why he had joined the academy. He knew more or less his subconscious motivations to become a chaser in general, but he don't know what actual drove him to join the academy at his age. Probably exactly what he had said. To boost up his skills with his powers, not to mention his own fighting skills. Then he could protect people he cared about, like his sister. Right now she was always helping him since her power enabled her to have an offensive view for fighting. Sure Skailor could use his power offensively if he knew how to actually fight in general. He could get into street fights and win, but that took no skill, just wits.

Thankfully, Kris wasn't dwelling on the subject. She was back to the task at hand; seeing how high they could go. "I thought you'd never ask." He gave a grin and pulled her into his arms once more and in an instant they were gone, reappearing in the air even higher than before. As they fell toward the ocean again, Skailor laughed and yelled 'woo' on the way down, careful not to yell directly into Kris' ear. As they plunged into the cold water even farther down before, Skailor swam his way to the top, taking a little longer to do so this time.

Breaking the top he took in a breath of air so he could continue to laugh now that he was resurfaced. "Man that never gets old. I think we could get even higher than that." He mentioned in sort of a challenging way. Skailor was sure this could go on forever, the sky had no limit and technically he could see into it forever. He had already gone higher than he ever had, not that he particularly tried to go upward instead of sideward before. Splashing water toward Kristina lightly he asked, Well, you've asked me a few questions about myself... So tell me. Why did you become a chaser?" He figured it was fair game since she asked why he had joined the school. Not to mention she was the only one really asking questions. Skai figured they were becoming friends enough that he should probably try to get to know her too.

Kristina smiled when he made his comment about how he thought she would never ask, he pulled her into his arms and she hugged him as he teleported into the air, much higher than before. She laughed to avoid screaming, finding the fear and rush to be thrilling as they went down, though she still refused to look towards the water, choosing to look around herself instead. This was so much fun. They crashed into the water, going much deeper than they had before. She held her breath as she swam towards the surface, breathing when air was once more available, she brushed her hair out of her face as she whipped the water from her eyes. She loved water but she hated having them against her eyes, feeling like they made it so much harder for one to see. She laughed, this was the most fun she had in ages, or since her brothers died.

"Well give me a second to get ready." She teased, though she needed another few minutes to ready herself. Water was splashed at her and she splashed it right back at him. His words, reminding her that she had asked so many questions about him and not it was her turn to answer. "I became a Chaser because I knew that I wanted to fight Darkness." It was vague but right now that would be fine. "So much has happened in my life and I found my next step in life was to become a Chaser. Besides I was using their pool, I might as well become a student." She answered splashing water at him again. As silence came between them she decided to give some small extra detail. "It's what my brothers would have wanted." There, now he knew that she had brothers.

She couldn't help but wonder if he would figure it out. Her brothers not being alive and being the tombstone he had kicked that rock into yesterday. It was okay though, she forgave him. If only Dream hadn't run away after the Valentine party, it was her turn to help him since he had done so much to help her in the past. "Did you hear about a Chaser who had gone rogue? I hear they are going to send Chasers after him." She changed the subject, "I plan on finding him first so that I can help him." She answered as if to clear the air, to make her comment from earlier less vague.

Skailor just grinned as she mentioned needing to get ready before their next height attempt. He did agree though. He needed to calm down from their most recent high before getting another one. The adrenaline rush was great, so he didn't want to use them up too fast.

As a nice change, Kristina began to tell him why she had became a chaser. It gave him more insight into her. Not much, but definitely more than he knew before. Now he knew that she had probably had a hard life or some sort of traumatic event happen with the way she explained that a lot of stuff happened to her. She also mentioned using the pool previous to becoming a student, and it made sense that she'd become one, despite being a minor reason for it. That's when she mentioned her brothers, but the way she said it was... Different.

Her brothers, she hadn't really talked about him much before just now. Not that she was talking about them, she simply mentioned them. Maybe they weren't predominant in her life, or maybe something happened to them. Suddenly Skai thought back to the cemetery. He hadn't really noticed the names on the gravestones, but it was a possibility that could have been them. Not that he was going to ask, that would have been awkward. Not to mention awkward timing.

Thankfully she brought up something else. A chaser who had gone rogue. Skailor couldn't say he had heard, but then again he didn't talk to too many people. He was certain he'd hear about it from his sister though. "No, I hadn't heard. You wanna help though, huh?" Skailor gave her a grin, "Now is that cause you're a noble person or because he's your friend? Or maybe both?" To be honest, Kris came off as kind of cold to him. But after today he supposed that maybe she actually it was just the circumstances of the day.

Kristina nods her head in agreement, "Yeah, I do." She answered him back before smiling, "It might be because I find myself to be a little bit of both." She finished as she laid in the water for a few minutes. When she was finished she stood back up in the water. "You should know.... I haven't had this much fun in ages." She started as she splashes him with more water. "It would be so much fun if we could do it again sometime." She stated as she slowly swam around in the beach water. It was getting late, if she suggested getting out she feared that his fun would be ruined and he would feel a need to join her, she didn't want that. When she got out of the water the first thing she did was grab her towel and dry off. Then she placed her shirt and pants back on before sitting in the sand. It felt so nice having it against her feet.

The last time she had been here was with Max and before that she had first met Dream. She laid back in the sand, not minding the fact that she had sand all over her clothes now. She reached for her phone to see that she didn't have any messages. Once more she set it on her towel as she relaxed in the sand, she couldn't help but wonder if Skailor would stay in the water or if he planned on coming out since it was becoming so late.
