The Party. [Christmas Plot/Open to all]

[Cassiel Novak]

    Cassiel was entranced as she walked up the front steps. The glittering lights of the Community Hall were dazzling. They sparkled and shined as if in an intricate dance and she smiled. “Tonight is going to be awesome. I may be a bit late, but better late than never.” She opened the doors and stepped into the hall, the vast room stretching out before her was even more amazing than the outside. There were decorations everywhere. Lights, tinsel, strings of beads, and- “Oh.” She gasped. The tree was the most elegant thing in the room. There were sparkling ornaments, twinkling lights, and shining tinsel covering every inch of it and she stared in amazement. Tonight would truly be magical, maybe she would make some new friends, or see some old ones. Either way, she was excited and she couldn’t wait for the festivities to begin.



    She walked over to the tree, admiring the decorations and smiling eagerly. Everything was so beautiful and she happy that everyone was getting a break tonight. Hopefully there would be no threat to the partygoers or the magical evening would surely be ruined. She brushed the thought aside and scanned the room, looking for a familiar face and finding none. “Oh well, this’ll be a great opportunity to make new friends.” She brushed a lock of hair out of her eyes and turned back to the party. Looking at the attire of the other guests, she felt a bit under-dressed, but she didn’t mind. She liked her dress and she wasn’t worried about what others would think of her, even if she was a bit nervous. Her outfit [Fixed]


    She didn’t know what to do first. Should she attempt to make conversation with the other partygoers? Or should she just admire the decorations. To be honest, the only person she recognized was Luz, but that was to be expected. Maybe I could talk to him? But he seems like he wants to be left alone. A sigh escaped her lips and she shrugged. “Oh well. Whatever.” She walked over and leaned against the wall in boredom. “What to do? What to do?” She mumbled. There were drinks set out, and snacks, maybe go over there? But she wasn’t really hungry. She’d eaten a bag of popcorn while watching a movie with Lila before coming here. She sighed in defeat and leaned her head back against the wall, closing her eyes. I was really looking forward to this, and now that I’m here it just kinda sucks.

[Max Abner]

max closely inspected the little bauble as the older boy explained what it meant to him. Max had never lost a family member, but they imagined that it would be awful. The family looked happy at least, so that meant that the older boy had to have some good memories about them. Max nodded and then looked up at the other boy. They thought about asking him questions about his family, but he changed the topic before they could ask anything, which was fine. Max looked around the hall. They saw Alana talking to somebody and they also saw more people arriving. It seemed like everybody was having fun.

Max laughed. "Chaser Abner? I think that's the first time anybody has ever called me that. Just Max is fine, but It's nice to meet you too, Mr Wolf." Max put emphasis on the formality in his name. They preferred not to use such formalities, but hey as a joke they were all for it. Max looked the other guy up and down. If he was a chaser then that meant he had to have some powers. Max had the power to steal other's abilities so they preferred to know them in case they ever needed to use them. "So what are you're powers? I'm assuming that if you know my name then you know more about me than just that, but if you don't feel free to ask me anything you want." Max beamed up at the older boy, glad to finally be at the party and talking to people.

[Dream Wolf]

Dream nodded a sight smile on his face. "Sorry it's a habit, my mom was a Chaser, and my dad taught the dogs that are used to hunt Darkness, so they instilled a great deal of respect in me. You can just call me Dream, the only people who call me Mr. Wolf are the ones who hate me, or are afraid of me." He was about to explain why they hated and feared him, when Max opened the chance for him.

"I have three powers, two I can control almost completely and one that I can sort of control but its always working. My favorite is Forged in Fire, it allows me to control metal of any kind and mold it and shape it into any form, the metal gets hotter the more I manipulate it, so if I turn iron into a ball of liquid and keep moving it around it will eventually become white hot, then I can solidify it into a weapon and attack with a sword that is literally wreathed in flames. But that takes time to do, about ten minutes of continuous manipulation, which is tiring. My other ability I don't like so much, its called Forged in Blood, and allows me to manipulate blood like I do metal. I've never tried to use it on blood inside someone but the teachers all think I can, so they are afraid I could hurt someone without leaving a trace." He shrugged.

"My last ability is the one people fear and hate the most. Absorb. I absorb life energy from people, animals, and even the earth and plants around me. I can tell a lot about people based on their energy. Usually Absorb only takes a little energy, if you're around me with Absorb at normal power, after an hour you might get a little tired without having done anything, I also absorb some of peoples powers if I am around them long enough, but it wears off within minutes of them leaving. The reason people fear this power is because I can also absorb Darkness, I absorbed a pipsqueak when I was five, and a Razor when I was eleven, that was when they took me to the academy, because they didn't want me to absorb anymore darkness. The theory is, if I used my full absorb on a person, they would die and I could, theoretically, absorb a Chaser's powers completely and use them, because when I absorbed that Razor, I gained incredible speed, comparable to a Razor. It used to be everyone was afraid so I kept it a secret, but I met some people and they didn't care at all. So now I don't fear people finding out. Of course I am afraid that if I absorb anymore darkness it will take over."

He twitched his wrist and a sliver of metal uncoiled from his arm and formed a disk that looked like a quarter, only it was made of bronze. "I can copy anything completely. Do you like birds or animals?" He opened his backpack and pulled out a bunch of animals made of metal, they were so perfectly detailed that the mammals if brushed from head to tail with a finger, felt soft and furry. The birds had feathers that felt like real feathers, but they were all made of copper, bronze and tin.

[Alana Summers]

Arms at her side, Alana stood, here eyes scanning the tree along with its' many ornaments. The limited amount of time to decorate clearly hadn't effected the tree whatsoever, for it flourished, branches holding each ornament with the best care provided. Despite the bright lights of the room, the Christmas tree stood like a multi-coloured beacon. The red-headed chaser spared a sideways glance at her new company once the girl in the blue dress began speaking. She easily noted the smile that was formed on the girl's face, which soon spread its' happiness over to Alana like a contagious disease. Alana's lips perked up into a lip tight smile, her gaze soon returning to the Christmas tree. Nodding slightly to the girl's words, Alana was left having to agree. Something about the illumination caused by a Christmas tree always seemed to stand out. The beams of light coming from the small bulbs placed across a wire always seemed to shine with the slightest hint of happiness.

Completely ignoring the slight error that occurred in the girl's sentence along with the reddish tint that coloured her face afterwards. "I must agree, any Christmas tree always seems to shine brighter than any other light," she agreed. Alana's gaze remained on the tree as memories of Christmas fluttered into her mind, causing her smile to broaden. A slight noise of movement alerted Alana, and once again the red-head shot another sideways glance at her current company. As expected, Alana turned to face the blonde girl, her hand reaching out to meet the offered handshake. With well trained eyes, Alana noted the particular way the girl stood, finding that it seemed professional. Once their hands departed, the girl bowed, which clearly showed some sort of high-class standard. With the bow came her name, spoken in a crisp voice. To Alana, the concept of bowing and formal greetings were very foreign, since her childhood had been spent living with her average parents.

The foreign concept of formal greetings left Alana stump, causing her to hesitate. "I'm Alana Summers," she began, trying to place her words carefully. A slight hesitation came into her next sentence as Alana tried to make the conversation turn more casual, rather than formal. "Also, there's no need to be formal." The slight confusion added from the formal greeting had left Alana's scanning to deteriorate to the point that her eyes ceased doing so. Rather than scanning, Alana decided to smooth over the strange greeting with a compliment. "I like your dress, it's very nice," Alana complimented warmly. The red-headed chaser didn't take much time for fashion herself, but sometimes certain things caught her eye. However catching her in a beautiful gown, dress or skirt was simply unlikely due to the fact that Alana thought of them as restricting pieces of fabric that could easily get in the way of her work. Her wardrobe lacked any sorts of frilly dresses or clothing that would be labelled difficult to fight in. Thus the reason why Alana only wore a simple red sweater and a pair of sweat pants for the occasion.

[Max Abner]

Max listened carefully to Dream as he talked. "It's agreed then. I won't call you by a formality if you don't call me by a formality," They chuckled and looked at some of the other decorations on the tree. Most of them were the red and white balls that graced almost every Christmas tree, but Max realized that there were some ones that looked more personal than just a decoration, like the one that Dream had put on the tree they looked like they held meaning. It was all really great. Max's family usually just held small celebrations so Max had never really gotten to see something like this with so many people together, it was really great.

Dream had begun explaining all of his powers, which were all very interesting. Max had never encountered somebody with any of his powers. First he explained the ability to manipulate metal and how it got hotter as he did it. Max nodded, they didn't really understand why it did that, but they were sure that they had read a book somewhere that mentioned metal heating up with friction or something. That was probably somewhere along the lines of how it worked. Next he said that he could control blood, which in Max's opinion was way cooler, but probably harder to use. Controlling blood inside somebody's body would be dangerous and maybe even kill them, but you would always have resources to fight with considering everybody had blood in their body. Max would love to test both of those abilities out, but the next one they were a little hesitant about.

When Dream explained his third power it seemed like it was maybe more of an issue than an asset. Absorbing Darkness and other people's energy could be dangerous as Max understood it, still they weren't one to think less of anybody's power. "So you could potentially use my power, or your own in a similar manor? That's really interesting as I've never met somebody with similar powers to mine. Of course it seems like yours might take people's life, but hey it's kind of similar if you think about it." Max chuckled a little and then looked at the metal trinkets he produced. Their eyes lit up as they gazed over the little metal animals. Every single one of them had exquisite detail. "Dude, this is so cool you should teach me how to do it!" They exclaimed, with their power stealing ability Dream technically could teach them how to creat the little metal animals. It was just a matter of learning.

[Dream Wolf]

Dream smiled. "It took me two years to learn to control my 'Forge' enough to do such fine detail. I could teach you, but you would need practice, a lot of it, to get used to how the power works. Of course I've heard of your power and how quick you are to learn to use others that you have borrowed, it might take you a few months less than it took me. The reason it's so hard is because at that size is because you are dealing with the metal on a microscopic scale, each little 'hair' on the mammals is only as thick a silk string and at that size, you have to strengthen the metal as well as mold it to shape."

He picked up one of the birds. "The birds are anatomically accurate, they have hollow bones and light weight 'organs'. I'm hoping to one day find someone with the power to bring them to life."

[Max Abner]

Max examined the animals closely as Dream explained all the detail of them. All the mammals had super thin hair and the bird had anatomically correct bones and organs. Max never would have put that much thought into a sculpture, but according to Dream he was hoping somebody might bring them to life one day. "I mean if you want to find somebody that can bring things to life this city is probably the best place to be. Lots of people with powers here." Max gently picked up one of the birds too and turned it around in their hand. Everything about it was perfect, at least Max thought it was. It really wasn't too hard to impress them though.

They beamed a smile up at Dream for like the sixth time. "Okay come on first lesson on how to work with metal for Max. You're the teacher. Let's go." Max handed Dream the little bird back before they wrapped their arm around his and led him over to a table that was pushed against a wall. Max sat down in one of the chairs and motioned for him to do the same. They had never used a power that allowed them to manipulate elements like metal so this would be completely new for them. New powers were always exciting, but seeing what they could do made it even more exciting. Max looked at dream expectantly.

[Dream Wolf]

Dream openly smiled, though Max would have no way of knowing, it was his first real smile in over a year. One way to make Dream happy was to talk about metal working. He loved working with the stuff in all ways, and though he could use his 'Forge' to make things instantly, he much preferred the old methods.

He sat willingly and pulled a block of bronze from his pack. "You should start with something fairly soft, like I did when I was little. When you look at the metal it helps to think of it as clay, because the process is more like molding and sculpting than smithing." He placed the metal block on the table. He placed one of his complete dogs on the table next to it.

"Start by picturing this dog, only picture it taking shape from the bronze. And remember the Bronze is Clay." He leaned back in the chair, and as part of a joke, but also a bit of showing off, he made the dog walk around in a circle. The movement took more effort than simply shaping did, but he did this when he was alone sometimes, to amuse himself.

He hadn't realized it yet, but he was a lot more comfortable around Max than he was his peers at the academy. It was mostly due to the fact that Max was neither Male nor Female. Dream was not very confident about most things in his life. Boys made fun of him for being so weird. And Girls...they actually scared him a bit. Even though he was fifteen, his life of solitude left a young man who was, emotionally speaking, several years younger than his physical age. When his old babysitter, Candy, asked him about the girls at school he always mumbled something about being to busy to notice such things. Of course these were things Dream was completely unaware of. Though on some level he likely knew it, but that part was deep inside him, a part of the Darkness within.

[Candy Green]

Candy gave Verrat a good long look. "You can be surprising in so many ways. Though to be honest, they would make a cute couple, if only because Dream would be completely lost. He may be my favorite person in the world, but he is just so darn fun to tease." She watched the two walk over to a set of chairs and chuckled when Dream made the little dog walk. He had learned to do that when he was six, he had been so proud of his accomplishment he had shown it to Candy a dozen times before falling asleep.

"I've already spoken to the people who call themselves teachers. They will not make the same mistake again." She gave him a look that had sent many a Darkness scrambling for cover. She had used the same look on the teachers, and they had reacted exactly as she had planned. With fear and excessive apologies. Candy was a Master Chaser, and her accomplishments were fairly well known. The fact she could change shape into anything, including making her fingernails secrete poison strong enough to drop a full size brute in a matter of seconds, made things go much easier for her. When she wanted to, Candy could be down right mean.

[Chibi Magician]

A lip tight smile brought the corners of Luz's lips high as he watched the crowd filter into the community hall. His efforts hadn't been futile, making the deity pleased with the amount of work he'd put into decorating for the Christmas party. However, as the deity watched people enter, his mind pondered over something that seemed almost strange to him. This concept being that everyone knew who he was, while he was limited to the handful of Chasers he'd met. Knowing who was Luz was like knowing the names of your favourite author, or at least for the people of Argi. That's when Luz decided to find someone who he could speak to, preferable a non-chaser who he'd have yet to meet. With that, the deity pushed himself up and out of his chair. His red eyes scanned over the area, seeing some chasers along with a few unfamiliar faces in the crowd.

That's when they stopped on a purple-haired young adult leaning against a wall. Luz scanned her face, easily finding that she seemed almost disappointed, and was even a little bit withdrawn from the others. Luz was clueless to the identity of the young lady, so his curious want to meet a new person drew him towards her. His footsteps made only the slightest noises on the floor, but were enough for someone to hear if they were paying attention. As Luz drew closer, he found himself growing more and more curious. Despite his current age appearance, Luz was naturally friendly and persuasive, as expected from the deity who had recruited an army of sorts to fight off his sister's monstrous creations. Once Luz got into range to talk, he spoke a greeting, his voice smooth and clear. "Hello," Luz began, pausing for a second. The deity had a small debate over his question, one shortly winning over the other. "I'm going to presume you already know who I am, so what's your name?" It was a basic question, but considering the fact he wished to meet new people, it was best he learned their names.

[Skylar Evermore]

    Ever flew high in the night sky, the icy wind violently whipping her face. "I wasn't prepared for this." she whispers, her voice lost in the wind as she pulls her thin jacket tighter around her torso. Ever's vision was clouded by tears from the cold air in the altitude as lights suddenly blind her completely. With quick instincts she braces herself, pushing her feet out just in time to catch the hard brick wall in front of her and  throws herself off balance making a stumbling landing on the roof of an unknown building. "Well that was unexpected." Ever retorts to herself as she scans her surroundings and quickly jumps down from the roof. "I need to find somewhere to stay for the night.." she continues speaking to herself and chews on the corner of her mouth as she spots the blinding lights that caused her crash. "A Christmas Party? I guess I could sneak in and stay. but just for tonight." Ever takes careful steps, slowly slipping through the door and past groups of chatting unfamiliar faces. When she believes no one's watching, Ever darts quickly up to the ceiling and lands on a rafter, only momentarily unfurling her wings to push her upwards. Sitting back against a support beam she takes off her backpack, grabbing out bandages and begins nursing her newly hurt ankle.

    Finishing wrapping her ankle Ever leans back once again, and looks out at the party. "They all look so happy." Ever sighs, finally relaxing (but stays alert) and shivers from the cold still racking her bones. Ever chews habitually at the inside of her cheek as she watches the party goers with a glimmer of happiness hinting at her lips. Ever notices the girl in the blue dress, the boy making a metal dog walk, and the girl sitting alone in the corner and takes in the attire that differs from person to person. Looking back at her own worn outfit, thinking, "I wonder what it's like to have new clothes. Or what it's like to celebrate Christmas with family and friends. Or to have family and friends..still "  She allows her dreary eyes to shut for a bit, thinking no one would notice her.

[Cassiel Novak]

    Cassiel sighed, she was beginning to regret coming. There were no familiar faces milling about and she was just leaning against the wall instead of trying to make friends. She frowned and anxiously rubbed her thumb and forefinger around the fabric of her dress. She had been so excited about this party and had worked so hard on her outfit, yet here she was,being too shy to talk to anyone. This normally wasn’t a problem for her and that’s what was so perplexing. She was usually pretty outgoing when around strangers, she loved meeting new people, so why was this so hard for her? She took a deep breath, calming herself. If she could just get rid of her nerves she could start having fun. Everything is fine. I can do this. It’s just like every other day, except everybody is dressed up. So, it’s basically just like a regular day where everyone is wearing formal wear...yeah. She smiled and pushed herself off the wall, prepared to head out into the midst of the party. She could do this, she wasn’t nervous anymore, she was ready.

    At the sound of approaching footsteps, she turned around, raising an eyebrow. What she saw took her completely off guard. Standing in front of her was Luz. The head of the Chasers,a god, a legend. And he was- talking to her? As the initial shock wore off, his words began to seep through and she quickly regained her composure.

“H-hi. My name is Cassiel. It’s so nice to m-meet you.”

    She fumbled her words, speaking quickly and grinning excitedly. Luz was talking to her. This was so exciting, it was an honor, a miracle. She couldn’t believe she was getting to meet him, she was absolutely ecstatic,but tried her best to keep her cool. She held out her hand, looking him up and down. So what she had heard was true. He had the appearance of a young child, small, short black hair, and red eyes. She knew this was just a facade though, she wondered why he chose to look like this though. But she didn’t let her curiosity get the best of her and continued to smile.

“It really is an honor to meet you. This party is amazing. The decorations are absolutely dazzling.”

[Chibi Magician]

At first, Luz had expected a calm reaction, but that proved to be incorrect. Deities were infamous around people, especially those of their religion, making it nearly impossible to go unrecognized. Years of seeing this reactions should've prepared Luz for this, yet the deity was somewhat surprised. The shock stricken expression apparent on the girl's face along with the fumbling of words managed to surprise him. However, the surprise quickly ebbed away as the deity began to think about the massive amount of power contained in his being. In all truth, Luz could've easily turned to destruction and assisted his twin to destroy the people of Argi. The question was, that if twins had such deep connections, what had stopped him from being like Oscuro? Luz couldn't help but ponder the thought, even at bad times like during this conversation.

For a moment, Luz had been staring at the purple haired girl, who introduced herself as Cassiel. The words coming out quick like a rushing river, along with a few small stutters. Her voice contained a certain thrilled tone to the girl's voice, that suggested that this she already thought this conversation to be riveting. Sudden realization came over the deity, causing his eyes to descend to the floor. Staring was considered rude in human culture, whether it was in god culture, Luz was unsure. There was a hesitation before the deity spoke, since he wished to find the correct words for an apology. "My apologies, Miss Cassiel, didn't mean to stare." Whether or not Cassiel had noticed was unknown to the deity, but that wasn't his current concern. Slowly, Luz's red eyes trailed up, trying to meet Cassiel's to make eye contact. He wasn't certain if his gaze would make her words falter further, but Luz decided it was best to risk it.

Slight curiosity glimmered in Luz's eyes, mostly about if Cassiel was gifted or not. Perhaps she was even a chaser he hadn't met yet, making the excitement very reasonable. If this young girl was a chaser, then this meeting would be to his benefit. As many books had depicted, seeing a leader calm always made morals high among the troops. Luz wasn't completely certain if the fact was true, but keeping a calm expression could help keep spirits calm. Despite the momentary distraction, Luz paid attention, hearing the comment. The comment was kind, thus it made Luz's lip tight smile return. "Thank you, but I couldn't have done it without the help I received. Even if I commanded this, it doesn't mean I can take full credit," Luz thanked. His voice was calm, and didn't waver, but his eyes had spared a glance at the decor adorned around the community hall. It was truly splendid that all had turned out so excellently.

"Also, a pleasure to meet you as well, Miss." Formalities had been something that Luz had long learned, and some may say even perfected. His eyes drifted over the people packed into the community hall, his smile broadening. Smiles, happiness, it could all been seen on the faces of almost everyone in the community hall. It was comforting, smiles, signs of happiness, it all meant that everyone felt safe.

[Deleted]

Kristina wasn't one for parties, so when her foster mother told her that she had to go she finally stopped giving her a hard time about it. She wore a long red sleeve shirt with blue jeans, refusing to wear formal at all costs. She grabbed her black high heel boots and put them on. Her foster mother had a much easier time getting her brothers to wear a dress shirt with slacks. Kristina found her wallet and placed it in her pocket, never really changing the style of her appearance because she was happy just being plain. She looked down to see her cat, Vincent, rubbing himself against her leg. "Yes I'm bringing you along..." She thought to herself, liking her cat to much to leave him at home, because she didn't trust her foster mother to leave him alone. The lady wasn't happy when the cat moved in after all. "Are you ready boys?" She called over to her brothers and smiled when they had their hair neatly brushed, both wore a bow tie with a nice sweater that their foster mother had made. One was red which was on Nicholas, the other was green which was on Garrett.

Kristina had plenty of sweaters to choose from but she didn't like wearing them. All three walked out of the house, heading towards the community hall. After a few minutes of walking down the street they came to the steps of the building and walked up. Kristina held Vincent in one hand while opening the door with her free hand. She moved it slowly as she peeked in side to see the crowd, tempted to close the door with her still outside of it. Garrett pushed her in, then Nicholas before closing the door behind them. "Thanks a lot Garrett." She whispered to her younger brother as she glanced over towards the crowd of people. "Remind me again why we came?" She asked, Garrett chose to answer. "Because our foster mother wanted us too..." She rolled her eyes before slowly making her way towards a wall to lean against it, petting Vincent with her right hand, one could see her ring on the ring hand ring finger.

Her brothers had matching ones on their hands as well. I wonder how long this party will go on for... For a few minutes Nicholas and Garrett had been against the wall with her, but then Garrett had lost interest and wandered over towards the Christmas tree, Nicholas followed after him. Kristina stayed against the wall, as she continued petting Vincent, hoping her brothers wouldn't be long and would come back to her. It felt weird being alone in the corner without them nearby.

[Max Abner]

Max was practically vibrating with excitement as Dream gave an example of his power. Now that Max had seen it they could use it. Dream was explaining how to make the dog and then make it walk. Max watched him carefully, instead of watching the dog dance around. They needed to see his level of concentration and how he moved to make the dog do certain things. After he was done explaining and showing of Max clasped their hands together and cracked their knuckles. "Okay you got it boss. Just you watch." Max stated as they copied Dream's movements and concentrated on making the bronze into a dog.

It began to shift a little, wobbling like it was a ball of water for a second before it sprung into a crude looking dog. The animal had nowhere near as much detail as Dream's did, but if you squinted then it kind of looked like a dog. Max smiled proudly. They motioned to their metal dog as if it was a finished masterpiece. Max had never been great at art, so sculpting was no different, but the dog had turned out better than they thought it would. Next Max tried to make it walk like Dream had, but instead of moving like a dog one of the legs just dislodge from the rest of the figure. Max chuckled and pick up the little leg. "Whoops." They stated as they moved the hot piece of metal from palm to palm to keep it from burning them.
