She sat quietly in the doorway of one of the abandoned buildings, thinking over her plot idea for the book she was trying to write. Her hair whipped across her face as a breeze swept through and she smiled. The night was a bit chilly, but she honestly didn't mind. She was enjoying the peace and quiet, it was nice to take a break from her somewhat hectic life. Cheering up patients at Folant Hospital, cleaning up Rose park, and the many other things she did with her time. Volunteering was hard work, but it all paid off in the end. The smiles on the faces of those she helped made it all worth it. The music playing softly through her earbuds calmed her as she tapped her fingers to the beat.
She turned up the music and took her earbuds out, shifting into her favorite animal the munchkin cat. The wind blew through her fur and she meowed loudly. Giggling internally, she ran around the small entryway and out the door. As she ran she closed her eyes, her stubby legs moving quickly. When she opened her eyes she squeaked and quickly dug her paws into the ground. She sighed, stopping just before she fell of the front porch. She sat down and studied her surroundings. The leaves fell, gracefully dancing in the wind, swirling and twirling until they hit the ground. Looking at the world through the eyes of a cat was interesting. She loved looking at things from the perspective of others. Every person, every animal, saw the world differently. She was amazed at the way the colours seemed to change when she shifted into an animal.
As she looked around, her ears twitched and she froze. Sitting as still as a statue she looked back and forth, trying to locate the source of the sound. Her eyes darted back and forth, scanning the area. When she couldn't see anything she ran back inside and shifted back into her human form, throwing on her clothes(because there's no such thing as clothes that change shape with you.) When she was done, she ran upstairs and hid in one of the bedrooms. She closed the door and locked it, proceeding to search the room for viable weapons before finding a couple of kitchen knives in the closet. They seemed to be covered in old dust from a darkness and she frowned in concern. What happened here? Did darkness really chase everyone out of this small village? She shuddered and sat back against the bed, closing her eyes in thought.
