Milkshakes and Sunshine [Alana/Open]

Max wandered down the streets on a hot day. The sun was glaring and the thirteen year old had on a pair of sunglasses to block out most of the rays. They were also wearing a loose fitting white button down shirt with the sleeves rolled up at the elbows and some black leggings. Today was just not a gendered day for Max. It was however, the day that they met up with Alana.

Max and Alana had been partners since Max had joined as a Chaser. They were partners because Max seemed to be too young to be a Chaser, and Alana was old enough to have been a Chaser for a while. They were a good pair, despite their conflicting personalities. Alana was serious and on task, while Max liked to goof off and never took anything seriously. Alana grounded Max and Max reminded her to smile the odd time.

Now they were meeting to discus their next mission and also to just hang out. Max liked both of those things. Max considered Alana like an older sister, so most things with her were pretty fun. Today they were meeting at the Sunny Mall. There was a pet shop that Max wanted to stop by and pick up something for Tomo, who was wrapped around their wrist like a bracelet.

When the smiling sun logo came into Max's view they smile and then teleported in front of the mall. One person near Max stumbled back a bit, but Max just nodded to them and continued walking before they could say anything. Max chuckled to theirself as they walked through the main doors and into the big open area that worked as the food court.

After looking around and not seeing Alana Max decided that they could go over and get something before she showed up. Max decided on getting a milkshake and wandered over to DQ. They ordered a regular vanilla milkshake and payed for it. After that they slowly sauntered over to a table near the centre of the room and sat down to wait for Alana.

The sun was high in the sky, its' rays projecting hot light onto the city of Argi. The heat wasn't too pleasant to Alana as she walked down the sidewalks towards the mall. A red water bottle was in the grasp of her right hand. Prior to usual, her red bangs were pinned away from her pale face. Her clothes consisted of a white t-shirt and a pair of jean shorts. She walked, her eyes glancing towards the Sunny Mall as she did so. Today she was to meet her partner, Max, to discuss their next mission.

Max was one of the youngest Chasers in the force, and thus was given Alana as a partner. They were practically opposites, but got along rather well. A smile played across Alana's lips as she turned to head into the mall. The mall was a rather popular place, but on a hot day like this, most would be out doing other things. Alana brought her water bottle to her lips and took a sip of the cool water. The ice jiggled inside, making noise until the small waves stopped.

Her reddish eyes caught a glimpse of the sun logo that represented the mall. The smiled still on her lips as she opened the glass doors of the mall. As her shoes tapped against the tile floor of the mall as she entered. She found herself in the food court of the establishment. Her eyes looked for Max, trying to find a blonde hair girl or boy from the small crowd in the food court. Her eyes laid on the DQ sign, and below that she caught a glimpse of Max ordering a milkshake. They left the counter, a milkshake in their hand as they sat at the nearest table.

Max wore while white and black as well as a pair of sunglasses. Alana walked over to Max, hoping they saw her before she came over. She sat down at one of the chairs. "Hey Max," Alana greeted. Alana placed the bottle on the table and crossed her left leg over her right.

Max had been sitting for no more than a minute when a lady with bright red hair showed up. "Hey Alana." Max smiled at their friend as they took another sip of their milkshake. They were about to ask if they were going to get something before they noticed the water bottle that she had. Max smiled a little at how it seemed she had thought ahead and considered the weather before going out. Max pushed their sunglasses back onto the top of their head so that they held their hair back out of their eyes like a headband.

Max motioned to the seat across the table from them. It was a table with four seats so Alana could sit wherever she wanted, but it would be easier if she just sat across from them. Max decided that they could start off the actual conversation. "So anyway, I was at the headquarters recently and I found this and I thought we could do it together." Max stated and then they started rooting around in their pockets. They knew there was a paper in there somewhere, but they had to push past all the silly stuff. Max pulled out a few candies and trinkets before finding the paper they were looking for.

Max handed the paper to Alana. It was about a Swarmer that had been spotted at the edges of town along with a Razor. Max had never seen a Swarmer before so naturally they wanted to go on a mission to defeat one. It would be something cool to brag about. Also the idea of multiplying themself was interesting. Would it be harder to control their actions or would it be the same? Max just really wanted to go and see the Darkness, of course they needed Alana there in case things went wrong. They weren't the most experienced Chaser and the fact that they were going up against a type of Darkness they had never faced was even more dangerous. They needed their partner there for them.

Alana was glad to sit down on the cold chair. It didn't take long to get down to business. The reason why they came here was to discuss a new mission that required their expertise. The pair had been Chasers for a while now, and they were both good at what they did. Alana waited for Max to finish rummaging for the paper. Watching as they pulled out candies and trinkets before finally retrieving the mission paper. Max then passed Alana the paper so she could take a look at it. Alana's pale hands grabbed the opposite sides of the paper, making the paper less crinkled.

There was a picture of the location, minus the Darkness of course. Alana's reddish eyes read through the words, noting every detail. It claimed that a Swarmer and a Razor had been spotted around the edges of Argi. This pair of Darkness was never good together, but Alana already knew that this mission was going to be difficult, which made it perfect. They needed experience facing Swarmers at the very least, but Alana had defeated a Razor in combat before. However, that was a long time ago, when she wasn't even a Chaser and has practically gone berserk. "Difficult, which obviously means perfect," Alana commented. Her smile remained as she looked at the rest of the page.

Alana figured they could get the job done, but it was highly unlikely they would escape unscathed. Swarmers could always duplicate and make a large group of Darkness while Razors had their long, thin claws. All Darkness had claws, but a Razor's were designed for slicing and creating brutally deep cuts. That's what made them scarier then other Darkness, but they weren't the most difficult for a trained Chaser. Alana's eyes wandered down to the bounty and smiled with delight. "High bounty too. This will work out, we get a good sum of money and some well needed training against these types." Alana commented, pleased with her partner's find.

Max watched Alana read the paper. They wondered if she would think it was bad. They were pretty sure that it was the best type of mission for the two of them right now, but maybe Alana would think differently about it. Of course Max was ninety percent sure that she would love it, but who knew. When Alana looked up and stated that it was difficult, but she thought it was perfect. Max watched as she looked back at the page. They wondered when they would go about doing it. Tonight? Tonight might be the best so that they could eradicate the Darkness fast, but maybe tomorrow would be better so that they would have more time to prepare.

Then Alana started stalking about how it had a high bounty and they could train against the types stated in the paper. Max really just wanted to figure out what multiplying themself would be like, but money and practising was a bonus. "Yeah I saw it and thought that it would be pretty cool with the Swarmer involved." Max stated. They took another sip from the milkshake and leaned back in the chair, thinking again about when they would do it.

"So I was wondering whether we should go at this tonight or tomorrow? Like, tonight would lower the risk to others, but tomorrow would mean we can prepare so less risk for us." Max explained their thoughts to Alana. They wondered what she would think on the subject. Max was personally leaning towards going that night so that they could go as soon as possible and they could see the Swarmer and fight it. That was Max's main goal, but of course there were also other important things that had to do with fighting the Darkness sooner rather than later.

Alana set the table down onto the table, flattening all the wrinkles. She then thought about how to capture and kill this enemy. Darkness could be tricky at times, but each type had something cruel they couldn't resist. The cruel things that Darkness did made them a terrible threat to people. The female Chaser nodded as her partner stated how neat it would be to go after a Swarmer. Alana smiled at the thought, the intentions of putting what would be considered cool first wasn't always the best, but it had worked out in this situation. "Well, I not complaining. The experience would be great." Alana stated, smiling all the while.

Alana felt slightly parched, so she grabbed her water bottle, popped open the top and took a sip. The ice jingled inside as she went took it from her lips and placed it on the table again. Now it was time to decide on the time of which they would go. Night meant the Darkness would be more then likely to be lurking about, but tomorrow called for better preparation time. There were also the obstacles in planning, which included the citizens of Argi who had to be kept safe from the Darkness.

"Well, at night the Darkness would be more prominent to appear, and the sooner we get rid of the Darkness the safer Argi will be." Alana pointed out as her mind began to calculate what their next move would be. Alana thought night would be better, since they could quickly start preparing themselves until they had a designated time to leave.
