Sam's brother and sister are quite young so she was always put in charge of watching them when her parents were out. She enjoyed it occasionally and would play with them. Her family has a large house with a pool, a playground, 2 playhouses and a small house, separate from the main one that acted as Sam's room/ house. She discovered her powers at the age of 13 while exploring in the mountains. She almost fell over the side of the waterfall because she was so off into space, but luckily she somehow slowed down time and was able to gracefully recover and move away from the edge.
