A long time ago the city of Argi was peaceful and bustling with the activity of travellers. It was a beautiful place to visit with forests and mountains surrounding one side of the city and an ocean on the other side. A god named Luz watched over the city as it was growing. It was nice.
Of course it wouldn't be a good plot if nice things lasted, and this didn't either. Oscuro, Luz's twin sister, took notice of her brother's town. A darkness appeared, led by Oscuro. At first just flickers out of the corner of your eye, and then it grew larger. Things started breaking. Things were stolen and fires began starting inexplicably.
Somebody was killed. Then another death followed. The people of Argi were afraid, and the tourists stopped coming. The Darkness kept getting stronger and they didn't have any way to stop it, until Luz came up with an idea.
He created a school. The Chaser Academy for children with special gifts that would hopefully be able to defeat Darkness. Normal people just wouldn't do it. And so the training began.
Luz, being a god, searched and found many children who had abilities that were almost god like and asked them personally to aid his town. He trained them himself and they learned how to fight the Darkness that Oscuro had created.
Some people graduated and then went onto fighting the Darkness. Argi's problems slowly went away and then so did the demand for Chasers. The people who had become Chasers to protect the city decided that the city probably didn't need their help anymore. They stopped fighting for one night and in that night three people died.
It was clear then that the people of Argi wouldn't be safe for a long time, and that the Chasers would be needed for all of that time. So Luz kept looking for people with powers and Oscuro kept creating the Darkness to fight her brother's Chasers.
