Laurent Maythorn the basics full name oo Laurent James Maythorn nickname oo Dog, Mutt (both are often from his fellow assassins & himself) age oo Twenty-three birthday oo December 16th, 1992 gender oo Male sexuality oo Demisexual the looks hair oo Short, sandy blond hair eyes oo Hazel, eyepatch on the right eye height & weight oo Tall with lean muscles, making him a heavier than average overall looks oo For hair, Laurent has messy, sandy blond hair that often falls over where his left eye would be. Since he’s blind in his right eye, Laurent wears a black eyepatch over it and doesn’t care if his hair falls over it. On the right side of his face, he often makes sure his hair doesn’t get into his right eye. Laurent’s right eye is a dull hazel while his left is more grey opposed to his normal hazel eye pigment, there is also a horizontal scar on his left eye that is often hidden by an eyepatch. He has fair skin pigment with a few pale scars marking just about anywhere on his body from the numerous times Laurent has gotten injured. The two most notable scars Laurent has is the one that goes across his left eye and a long thin scar on his right shoulder. Due to these scars, Laurent is prone to wear clothes that cover his torso and legs in order not to raise question. Usually these shirts and pants are very plain and casual. During assassinations, Laurent will often wear darkly coloured cloaks or trench coats and long sleeved shirts to wide as much of his appearance as possible, he sometimes even changes his face with his illusion manipulation. Laurent has a tall build with lean muscles due to years of work and good physical health. He's also very flexible and able move quickly in most situations. Usually he's a fun loving individual who enjoys making new friends and playfully teasing those around him. He cracks jokes and tries to get reactions out of people, whether they be good or bad. The manner of which Laurent acts around people can be quite abrasive, but this is mostly when it comes to teasing others. Sometimes his lack of concern for others feelings in the teasing department can make him rub off as insensitive at times. His teasing can vary from sarcastic comments to downright teasing the person with petty nicknames. However, his childish and cocky behavior is often noticed soon after introductions. Those are often the traits people see immediately, but Laurent is highly adaptable and able to adjust to certain situations in a flash. He's marvelous at remaining alert and observing the are and people around him, making it awfully difficult to sneak behind him or even watch from afar him. He'll often find ways to check behind him or to even glance at someone without them noticing. Although Laurent may appear childish a majority of the time, he's truly rather patient and even deceitful. He's surprisingly capable of lying and will keep it up to hide most, if not all secrets. Being highly obedient had caused Laurent to almost be dog-like, meaning he will do commands on a whim to please his boss. This makes Laurent disloyal to everyone, but his boss, Aaron who manipulates his weak-willed mind. Years of risking possible death has made Laurent very courageous in the department of carrying out orders, since they are one of the few things he takes seriously. Most would think that carrying out assassinations would create a heartless killer, but that would be very wrong. After assassinations, Laurent gets very anxious, his breaths get shaky and he is usually sobbing about what he'd down. It's the moment where Laurent is miserable and even remorseful of his actions to the point he ridicules himself to the extreme. He becomes gloomy, and usually distant until he has had time to pull himself together. At this point, Laurent is no longer observant or alert to the point he usually becomes unresponsive to anyone's word. He usually passes out from exhaustion once he realizes he has wounds to heal and such. These episodes commonly happen when Laurent is in a private location, away from prying eyes. Once his episode is down, he will act as though nothing happened and that everything is fine to a surprisingly convincing level. the ability illusion manipulation oo Defensive/Offensive. High Discipline. An ability that allows the user to create and manipulate illusions. These illusions can not bring harm physical, but they can create mental damages as well as defensive mists. This manipulation can allow the user to “change” the appearance of people by clustering their illusions around them. Laurent often uses this as a primary weapon, this often involves him creating hellish atmospheres as well as creatures to scare people. He has learned to cling his illusions to himself to make him more fearsome, like a character from nightmares. However, he rarely does this since his illusions aren’t barriers and if someone were to attempt to hit him, they could very well succeed. If Laurent gets knocked unconscious, his illusions will disappear since they rely on his mind. He’s capable of creating anything with his illusions, but anything can simply pass through them as though they were a ghost. abnormal healing factor oo Passive. Medium Discipline. Allows the user to heal their wounds and illnesses at a faster rate than normal. They can not heal others with this ability, just as others are unable to heal them. In order to heal a wound or illness, the user must focus on healing, however the cost is some of their energy. If focus is broken, the wound will cease healing. Strangely enough, Laurent’s abnormal healing isn’t controlled very well. Where most are able to close wounds and have no pain, Laurent finds he experiences headaches and wounds close, but strangely still produce pain if touched or moved into an uncomfortable position. The pain produced from the healed flesh usually ceases after Laurent has had the chance to rest. Headaches usually subside once the deed is done, but can make it difficult to focus on healing. Another strange quality to Laurent’s abnormal healing is that it takes more energy than what has been recorded as normal. This energy drain can usually leave Laurent exhausted, and at times can even cause him to faint if he’s not careful. psychic immunity oo Passive. Automatic. Makes the user immune to abilities that are psychic based, this means telepathy, mind control, telekinesis, and various other psychic based skills. For Laurent, this ability automatically occurs, however his version isn’t very powerful. Those who can see someone’s past/future can tend to at least see small glimpses of Laurent’s past and/or future. Thankfully, his psychic immunity can somewhat block the ability to make reading more vague. This affair ended with his mother, Jessica Maythorn, getting pregnant with Laurent. Shortly after the discovery, Jessica knew she couldn't continue seeing Marcus and she definitely couldn't take the Evans name. With that, Jessica fought tirelessly to escape Marcus, and even made sure to have lawyers on speed-dial to gain sole custody of her son. In December, Jessica gave birth to her first child and named him Laurent. The new mother was pleased to find that Laurent looked more like her opposed to his father. Leaving Marcus's last name name off the birth certificate, Jessica was rather pleased to have him out of her and her son's life. However, Marcus got his hands on the certificate and decided to try and gain custody over Laurent, thus the battle began, and Jessica was prepared to fight for the sole custody of her young son. After one year of sorting things out via court, Jessica managed to gain sole-custody of Laurent. When Laurent was two, Jessica married a man named Harrison Tetin and had a second child. Harrison opted to take Jessica's name to avoid doing more paperwork. Sophie Maythorn was born on October 5th, and Laurent was pretty happy to have gained a little sister. Only a few months after Sophie was born, Jessica and Harrison decided to move to Argi in order to keep Laurent safe from his biological father. Jessica knew one thing, and that thing was that she couldn't trust Marcus Evans at all. Once they moved, Laurent's mother began getting work as a musician and even began singing and playing for crowds. When Laurent turned five, his mother decided to teach him how to sing and began introducing him to the idea of guitar. However, the jobs his parents had required them to be away at any time of the day, leaving Sophie and Laurent to be watched by babysitters at a constant. However, the siblings weren't bothered by it, mostly because they had each other to play with and tease whenever they pleased. Laurent's goal was to be the best big brother, and thus he played the games Sophie wanted and even sung to her when she asked. Most of Laurent's life was spent with his sister and mother since Harrison was often at work as a soldier. At the age of twelve, Laurent discovered his illusion manipulation and just how he could use to help him. He trained in using it almost daily, but still used some time to play with his younger sister. At the age of sixteen, Sophie, who was thirteen at the time, got attacked by a man who wanted to get money from her. He would've succeeded, but Laurent interfered and paid a nasty price for his interference, during the fight, the mugger's knife caught him in the right eye. Due to this, Laurent became blind in his right eye, but he didn't regret what happened since he saved his sister's life. This was also the day Laurent discovered his healing factor after focusing on trying to heal the wound. When the wound closed with the price of energy and a massive headache, Laurent found that his wound was closed. He couldn't catch the mugger, but Laurent did report him and take his sister back home. With a fresh scar and blindness in his right eye, Laurent returned to school to find that people were afraid of his nasty scar. To make things easier, Laurent decided to constantly wear an eyepatch, which seemed to help a little. After a while, Laurent's mother taught him how to play guitar and even got him one for his birthday. Laurent graduated from school at eighteen, and this was also the time that he began talking with Aaron. The pair talked for two years, Aaron even taking some time to teach Laurent how to use various weapons, and even managed to build Laurent into a lean, strong fellow. During these years, Aaron discovered Laurent's psychic negation, and told him about it. Aaron had planned to use mind control to convince Laurent to join him, but it failed due to Laurent's psychic negation. At that point, Aaron became desperate, and upon hearing about Laurent's close bond with Sophie, he hatched a plan. One night, Aaron sent a few of his dogs out to kill Sophie, they succeeded. Laurent found her sister dead, and was devastated and lost a majority of his will-power. This made him perfect for Aaron to mold into one of his dogs, which in the end caused Laurent to be Aaron's most loyal mutt. Three years went by, three years of assassinations and guarding missions that proved Laurent's loyalty, but also proved how unstable he could be afterwards. After his first assassination, he moved out so his mother wouldn't see him breakdown. Eventually, Aaron gave him a mission to kill Oliver Evans, but didn't tell Laurent the last name of his target. He went to accomplish his mission, but failed to kill Oliver due to his half-sister's interference, however he managed to defeat her. Instead of killing Vashti, Laurent allowed her to live and returned to Aaron with the news, with a new plan, Aaron commanded Laurent to protect her while keeping up with assassinations.
