Today Pan carried a large backpack with her as she left the confines of the city. She breathed a sigh of relief at leaving behind the crowded streets and awful chasers. She took off her earmuffs and was happy to find that there were no other thoughts around her. For once Pan didn't have to deal with random people's thoughts in her head if she didn't wear her earmuffs. She could walk without dealing with those aweful things.
Pan's powers were fairly undesirable to her. She had telepathy, but with no way to shut it off, so anybody near her had their minds invaded unless she wore earmuffs to block them off. Her other power was like that too, Psychoscopy was probably worse than telepathy because she actually fainted sometimes after she had used it and it happened everytime she touched something new. That was why Pan wore gloves at all times. Once she touched things once she didn't have to see their history twice so the gloves helped block out any unwanted visions. Since these two powers were a year round thing apan could be found wearing gloves and earmuffs even in he he summer, it was only in the winter that she looked kind of normal.
While Pan trudged out of the city the sun began to set. It was common knowledge that going out of the city was dangerous enough, but after dark was a thing that was reserved for chasers and crazy people. Pan wasn't really crazy, but she had nothing to fear from the thing that kept most people out of the wilderness at night. Tonight and maybe the next night were meant for a camp out away from her job and the bustle of the city. Pan had thought about going to the abandoned village as there were many Darkness there, but that meant more minds she had to read. So instead she set her courses for the lake. It sounded like a nice secluded place.
When Pan got there she plopped down with her stuff and sighed. She reached out with her mind and found a pipsqueak wandering around in the forest. "Hey bud. Come here." she called out in it's mind. The little Darkness began making it's way over to her. Most people hated Darkness, but Pan found that they were much better than people. People had so many thoughts and complicated emotions, Darkness kind of just fed off of fear. Since Pan had so much fear and she could actually talk to them they weren't as hostile with her as they could have been.
Pan held the pipsqueak like it was a teddy bear as she stared at the moon that was beginning to rise overhead. The little Darkness was working through her many fears to chose one to transform into. That was one thing that Pan could do without, but it was a thing that she was willing to deal with. As Pan lay there more Little Darkness began to show up. No large Brutes or fast Razors showed up, but there were two pipsqueaks and three troublemakers. She was enjoying their company as she looked at the sky and listened to the water in the lake lap at the shores.
